Dry grassy field beside a large stone building under a cloudy sky.

Armscote, Warwickshire - Ongoing

Armscote Project

We first accessed this landscape project in mid-June during the hot summer. The client was in the later stages of finishing their house after many years in the construction phase, with many trades on site. The client's task at hand was simple: to establish a luxury lawn for their future home through Armscote landscaping.

Armscote Landscaping Services - Ongoing Project

On the ground

When we surveyed the site for the Armscote landscaping project, the ground was poured with rubble, stones, and scattered plastic. Weeds had developed into an invasive feature, and soil reports indicated a lack of nutrients in the ground. I believe this is due to the construction work that had been conducted, leaving concrete and materials buried in the soil.

A previous contractor had overseeded the area but unfortunately, the seed failed. Additionally, the method he adopted of using a harrow brought more stones to the surface, complicating the luxury lawn establishment that we aim to achieve.

Plan of Action

Starting the work.

In late July, we began our landscape project focused on Armscote landscaping, which involved cutting down the area to the point of scalping the ground surface. Our goal was to develop a clean surface to work off for the luxury lawn establishment.

We utilized a Grillio FD500 with a collector for this task. Since the back of the garden adjoined agricultural ground, seeds from the nearby farmer's field had encroached over time. As a result, agricultural grass and crops had self-seeded themselves. By picking them up and removing them from the site, we helped reduce the number that would respawn in the future.

This process took us three days to achieve the desired level of surface from which to continue our project.

Preparing Ground

Blec Cultivator

As we were approaching the forecast of rain after a prolonged drought period, it became crucial for our Armscote landscaping team to calculate the right time to overseed the area. This involved considering the temperature and germination rate, especially for our landscape project aimed at achieving a luxury lawn establishment without relying solely on tap water.

First Signs of seed

Germination

After 11 days of overseeding the entire area with PM 81 Premier Renovation seed from DLF, we observed promising signs of good germination throughout the soil profile. Despite the reports from soil analysis experts highlighting the poor quality of the soil and claiming that nothing would grow, our landscape project for Armscote landscaping is proving successful in the luxury lawn establishment.
